Cylindrical Screen Drum

A cylindrical screen drum is a versatile screening component manufactured from stainless steel wedge wire or perforated plate, rolled into a cylindrical shape. The drum is installed in various types of screening equipment including pressure screens, centrifugal screens, and rotary screens. It serves as the primary screening surface, separating solids from liquids or classifying particles by size. The drum can be configured as a stationary element or as a rotating element. The construction provides high mechanical strength, good flow capacity, and effective separation performance.

The cylindrical screen drum is available in two primary construction types. Wedge wire construction uses V-shaped profile wires resistance-welded to a grid of support rods, providing precise slot openings from 0.025 mm to 2.0 mm. The V-shaped slot geometry prevents particles from wedging and allows for effective backwashing. Perforated plate construction uses stainless steel sheet with punched holes, providing high strength and impact resistance for coarse screening applications. The drum can be manufactured with flanged ends, plain ends, or with mounting rings to match the equipment configuration.

Cylindrical screen drums are used in a range of separation applications. In the pulp and paper industry, they screen pulp slurries. In mineral processing, they classify ore slurries. In water and wastewater treatment, they remove solids. In food processing, they screen and filter various products. The drum is also used in chemical processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
