Screen Cylinder

A screen cylinder is a cylindrical filtration or screening component manufactured from stainless steel wedge wire screen, woven wire mesh, or perforated plate. The cylinder is installed inside a filter housing, strainer, or screening equipment where it separates solids from liquids or classifies particles by size. The cylinder is a serviceable component that can be removed, cleaned, and reinstalled multiple times. The construction provides good mechanical strength, effective separation performance, and corrosion resistance for a wide range of applications.

The screen cylinder is available with several filtration media options. Wedge wire construction uses V-shaped profile wires resistance-welded to support rods, providing precise slot openings from 0.025 mm to 2.0 mm. The V-shaped slot geometry prevents particles from wedging. Woven wire mesh construction uses stainless steel mesh stretched over a support frame, providing a range of mesh sizes from 1 to 400 mesh. Perforated plate construction uses stainless steel sheet with punched holes, providing high strength for coarse applications.

They are used in a range of liquid filtration and solid-liquid separation applications. In water treatment, they serve as intake screens and protective strainers. In chemical processing, they remove solids from process streams. In food and beverage production, they filter syrups, juices, and other liquids. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, they provide product recovery and filtration.
