Perforated Filter Basket

A perforated filter basket is a filtration component manufactured from stainless steel perforated plate. The plate is rolled into a cylindrical or slightly conical shape and welded along the seam. The basket features uniformly distributed round or slotted holes across its surface. This construction provides high mechanical strength, impact resistance, and good flow capacity. The basket is installed inside a filter housing or strainer body, where it captures coarse solids and debris from the fluid stream while allowing clean liquid to pass through. The perforated filter basket offers high open area, typically between 20% and 60%, which allows for high flow rates with low pressure drop. The round holes or slots are uniformly distributed across the basket surface, providing consistent flow distribution. The large open area reduces the velocity of fluid passing through the basket, which minimizes erosion and extends the service life of the basket. The basket is suitable for handling high-flow applications where pressure drop is a critical consideration. The holes range from 0.5 mm to 20 mm in diameter, with common sizes determined by the particle size to be removed.

The basket is constructed from stainless steel sheet with thickness ranging from 0.5 mm to 3.0 mm. The material is selected based on the operating environment and the fluid being filtered. Stainless steel 304 and 316L are the most common choices, providing good corrosion resistance for water and mild chemical applications. The basket is designed for easy removal and cleaning. Solids collected inside the basket can be emptied, and the basket can be rinsed or brushed clean. The smooth inner surface of the perforated plate prevents materials from adhering, making cleaning straightforward. The basket can be reused multiple times, making it an economical choice for coarse filtration.
