Perforated Strainer Basket

A perforated strainer basket is a filtration component manufactured from stainless steel perforated plate. The plate is rolled into a cylindrical or conical shape and welded along the seam, creating a rigid basket with uniformly distributed holes. The basket is installed inside a strainer housing or pipeline filter, where it captures coarse solids, debris, and contaminants from the fluid stream. It is designed to protect downstream equipment such as pumps, valves, and meters from damage caused by solid particles. The basket is a serviceable component that can be removed, cleaned, and reinstalled, making it a cost-effective solution for coarse filtration applications.

The basket is characterized by its high flow capacity and low pressure drop. The holes are uniformly distributed across the basket surface, providing consistent flow distribution and minimizing turbulence. The open area typically ranges from 20% to 60%, allowing for high flow rates with minimal pressure loss. The hole diameter ranges from 0.5 mm to 20 mm, with the size determined by the particle size to be removed. The basket can be manufactured with or without a lifting handle for easy removal. A flange, rolled rim, or threaded connection at the top provides the interface with the strainer housing. The smooth inner surface of the perforated plate prevents materials from adhering, making cleaning straightforward.

The basket material is selected based on the fluid being processed and the operating conditions. Standard materials include stainless steel 304 and 316L, which provide good corrosion resistance for water, mild chemicals, and food applications. For more demanding environments, we offer higher-grade materials including 2205 duplex stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant alloys. The material choice directly affects the service life of the basket, particularly in applications involving corrosive media or elevated temperatures. The basket can also be supplied with electropolished surfaces for applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries where hygiene is required.
