What Is a Wedge‑Wire Screen Panel
It is a flat or slightly curved screening panel manufactured from V-shaped stainless steel profile wires. The profile wires are resistance-welded to a grid of support rods, creating a rigid structure with continuous, uniform slots across the entire surface. The screen plate is installed into vibrating screens, fixed screens, and dewatering screens for sizing, classification, and dewatering of materials such as ores, coal, aggregates, grain, and chemicals. The all-welded construction provides high mechanical strength, enabling the screen plate to withstand material impact and vibration without deforming or failing. The smooth surface and anti-clogging slot design set this screen plate apart from other screening media.

Slot Design and Anti-Clogging Performance
The V-shaped slot is the key to the screen plate's performance. The slot is narrow at the feed side and wider at the discharge side. This geometry prevents particles from becoming wedged in the slot. The result is a screen plate that maintains its screening efficiency without frequent cleaning. In contrast, punched plates have straight holes where particles can wedge and clog. Woven wire screens have openings that can become blocked by near-size particles. Slot openings range from 0.025 mm to 3.0 mm, with common sizes determined by the separation size required for the material being processed. Slot tolerance is held to ±0.03 to ±0.05 mm, ensuring consistent product quality from the screening operation.
Structural Strength and Support Design
The screen plate is constructed with V-shaped profile wires on the surface and a grid of support rods underneath. The profile wires and support rods are welded at every intersection. The number and spacing of support rods determine the load capacity of the screen plate. For heavy-duty applications involving large material impact, support rods are spaced closer together. Profile wire sizes range from 0.75×1.5 mm to 2×4 mm. For vibrating screen applications, larger profile wires such as 1.5×3 mm or 2×4 mm are recommended to resist fatigue. The screen plate can be manufactured with or without a mounting frame, depending on the equipment requirements.

Applications Across Industries
Wedge‑Wire Screen Panels are used in a range of solid separation applications. In coal preparation plants, they are used on vibrating screens for coal sizing and dewatering. In mineral processing, they classify ore slurries. In aggregate production, they screen crushed stone and sand. In chemical and food processing, they separate solid particles from liquids. The screen plate is also used as a support plate for filter media in water treatment vessels. The open area of a Wedge‑Wire Screen Panel ranges from 15% to 60%, providing good throughput while maintaining separation accuracy.
Custom Manufacturing
Anping County Yan Zhao Mining Sieve Mesh Co., Ltd. has been manufacturing wedge wire products for over 20 years. Our facility operates more than 60 production units. Each screen plate is custom manufactured to customer specifications. We support OEM/ODM services and can produce to technical drawings. For custom screen plates, we confirm material grade, slot opening, effective width, effective length, frame configuration, and support rod spacing before production. A sample can be provided for confirmation before mass production. Lead time typically ranges from 7 to 30 days depending on complexity.
